What does “Chanticleer” Mean?

The term “Chanticleer” is derived from the crafty, quick-thinking rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," specifically, "The Nun's Priest Tale."

And in the yard a cock called Chanticleer.
In all the land, for crowing, he’d no peer.

The Chanticleer is the crowing of announcements that has no peer in our area!
