Mission Statement

The Berkshire-Taconic Branch is organized as a branch of the Anthroposophical Society for the purposes of promoting cultural, educational and scientific activities arising from the work of Rudolf Steiner, through a newsletter, study groups, lectures, artistic performances and seasonal festivals.

We strive to attain the goals set out by Rudolf Steiner in his Letter to Members, January 13, 1924, regarding the Foundation of the General Anthroposophical Society at the Christmas Meeting, 1923, Dornach, Switzerland which can be read on the Rudolf Steiner Archive website here.

THE BOARD

Matt Cain
President

Matt has lived and worked in the greater community since 1995, and has participated in many aspects of initiative and cultural life in our area, including Board membership and administrative work for Camphill Copake, as well as participation in several study groups, festival events, and other community gatherings over the years. His heartfelt wish in serving on the Board is to further the anthroposophical impulse in our community as well as to the Society worldwide.

Karine Bouis-Towe
Treasurer

Karine grew up in southern Texas, her admiration of the Great Oak and the dainty moss that lives within the tree was her entry into the mysteries beyond the material. Karine was attracted to Harlemville originally to obtain raw milk for her growing family when she visited her sister Upstate. Her love of Biodynamic food, Waldorf education and the mountains brought her permanently to the area in 2013. She currently has a small farm with Jersey cows, chickens, goats and a Clydesdale, this lifestyle balanced with part-time work in the field of technology gives her the energy and time to participate in the varied and plentiful community life surrounding Harlemville. I'm honored to serve on the Board and cooperatively take part in carrying the Branch forward in a grounded and renewing way.

Marc has blogged about Goethean Conversation as described by Marjorie Spock and in general the spiritual concepts described by Rudolf Steiner as well as developing an experiential workshop on the practice of Goethean Conversation. He has recently published the book The Living Three-ness of Social Life: Bringing us into the context of the 21st century, this book revisits the collection of Dr. Rudolf Steiner’s books, essays, and lectures on the fundamental concepts of the social organism.

Bill Trusiewicz
Board Member

Bill’s spiritual journey began with an intuitive encounter with Isis/Sophia at around the age of twelve. His deepened consciousness of the world around him led, through much joy and suffering, to an encounter with Christ at the age of twenty-two. After about fifteen years of wrestling with apostate churches in search of a true New Testament community (around 1990), Bill encountered the work of Rudolf Steiner, and the Being Anthroposophia, the human, macro-cosmic reflection of Isis/Sophia. He became a member of the Anthroposophical Society but a few years later became disenchanted by its apostate condition and terminated his membership. Subsequently (since 2018), in his desire to serve Anthroposophia, he decided to renew his membership to the Society and to dedicate his energy to the Berkshire Taconic Branch, its coordinating group and branch activities. He also joined the First Class.

Bill has written numerous articles, including several series of articles, which have been published mostly in Anthroposophical journals, some of which can be found on this website. These include: Archangel Michael: How Can We Know Him? Parts I-V; Keys to Meeting Christ in the Etheric, Parts I-V; Towards Building a Community of Grail Knights, Parts I-V; and a series of articles on the esoteric wisdom embedded in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books. These articles along with many others can be found here: https://independent.academia.edu/BillTrusiewicz
