Mission Statement

The Berkshire-Taconic Branch is organized as a branch of the Anthroposophical Society for the purposes of promoting cultural, educational and scientific activities arising from the work of Rudolf Steiner, through a newsletter, study groups, lectures, artistic performances and seasonal festivals.

We strive to attain the goals set out by Rudolf Steiner in his Letter to Members, January 13, 1924, regarding the Foundation of the General Anthroposophical Society at the Christmas Meeting, 1923, Dornach, Switzerland which can be read on the Rudolf Steiner Archive website here.

THE BOARD

Matt Cain
President

Matt has lived and worked in the greater community since 1995, and has participated in many aspects of initiative and cultural life in our area, including Board membership and administrative work for Camphill Copake, as well as participation in several study groups, festival events, and other community gatherings over the years. His heartfelt wish in serving on the Board is to further the anthroposophical impulse in our community as well as to the Society worldwide.

Karine Bouis-Towe
Treasurer

Karine grew up in southern Texas, her admiration of the Great Oak and the dainty moss that lives within the tree was her entry into the mysteries beyond the material. Karine was attracted to Harlemville originally to obtain raw milk for her growing family when she visited her sister Upstate. Her love of Biodynamic food, Waldorf education and the mountains brought her permanently to the area in 2013. She currently has a small farm with Jersey cows, chickens, goats and a Clydesdale, this lifestyle balanced with part-time work in the field of technology gives her the energy and time to participate in the varied and plentiful community life surrounding Harlemville. I'm honored to serve on the Board and cooperatively take part in carrying the Branch forward in a grounded and renewing way.
